Spark change.

Seven Fires is non-profit organization dedicated to nurturing the fires of Indigenous stewardship, reigniting Indigenous sovereignty, and forging lasting relationships of solidarity.

Our Work:

With thoughtful intention and purpose, we are tending to the fires of three primary areas — Stewardship, Sovereignty, Solidarity — in order to spark change for a more equitable future.

Stewardship

Working alongside Indigenous communities in reclaiming their roles as stewards by expanding and shifting the concept of economics beyond money and re-centering our collective responsibility to each other, the world around us, and future generations.

Sovereignty

Supporting Indigenous women with stepping into their own sovereignty by providing opportunities to gather and nurture one another in community while considering ways they can shed internalized oppressive ideologies and operate more fully as themselves and as leaders.

Solidarity

Honoring and celebrating the vast ecosystem of those working around the world to address the harms of systems of inequity by amplifying and uplifting aligned partners and extending an open hand to those whose work intersects with ours in the movement toward equity.

“I believe strongly that our Indigenous practices, teachings, and languages are the medicine we need to help us heal, thrive, and prosper.”

“An Indigenous Approach to Community Wealth Building: A Lakota Translation.”

In this report, Seven Fires Executive Director, Stephanie Gutierrez, powerfully demonstrates how any community wealth building effort that does not commit to the work of decolonizing its concepts and strategies will fail to accomplish what it sets out to do.
